1.
You thought you'd rattle apart, but then another day comes. You thought you'd give up the ghost, but you just couldn't stay gone. There's never cause for alarm. The water tower burned down. A long time ago now. The water tower burned. We're all made from the same parts. The interchangeable dead. We've got these kerosene hearts, empty detachable heads. What if we all said no? What if we all said no. What if we all said no together at the same time? We can rattle sabers, we can bear the torches, we can build a tower in the trenches. Or we could set some fires, we could slash some tires. we could tear the roots out of their fences. What if we all said no? What if we all said no. What if we all said no together at the same time?
2.
-giant vacant structures expand contract one step to build two more the steel is stretching thin the walls are cracking, exposing our scars -we can’t afford to pretend anymore the numb comfort retreats through holes in the floor -tremoring on the brink with no strength to keep standing this is what we’ve built this is what we’ve paid for but we still know this can’t last -we can’t afford to pretend anymore the numb comfort retreats through holes in the floor -so they yell "let’s fix it, let’s fund it, keep it alive a little longer, we need to save what we have done" but we all know it has to crumble -guarded truths carve deep in wounds that we've numbed in our sedation a sedation we long to keep in a reality we can’t control -but in our failures there is beauty and the exhilaration of open eyes tearing up in the bitter wind that lets us know we are alive
3.
We had our reasons. A path to tread. Outside the garden of living dead. We whispered secrets under our breath. Set fire to moonlight. Ripped off our heads And kicked them to the ground and away we went. Running through the fields and the wet cement. Looking for that perfect way to die. It's not like we were ever gonna make it out alive. And so we carried on until the birds sang. Our heads had grown back wrong. All filled with nothing. We tried to tear them free but they wouldn't budge. We thrashed around the field and sank in the mud. Then every day was struggle just to survive. We couldn't find our reasons we just didn't wanna die. Then the days turned into years, and the years to minutes. Cold white light...is that the sun? So far away. What have we done. Is that the sun? What have we become?
4.
-our hollow bones, so easy to break they’re piercing skin and cutting veins -and we watch as we bleed the sorrow and the loss the ghost in the reeds - embedded in the blood a glimpse of lives the lives we’ve lost
5.
Same dream last night. Black suit. Black tie. No face. No voice. No trace. No choice. It's him or me. Same dream last night. Black suit. Black tie. No face. No voice. Are we not wolves at heart? We've got it all. So why does it feel like we're drowning all the time? Are we not wolves at heart? Are we not wolves?
6.
-a flash in my eyes, thundering steel shattering glass, burnt smell of the wheels another impact, we tremor and we shake our ears screaming, the dust in our face -for a moment, we spin for a moment and ever since -I’m still there on that road just standing there all alone -I’ve been gone, I’ve been locked away all on my own, I think I might stay it’s hard to see with lights drawn so dim in the shadows shapes alter and shift -and I reach in the dark for you to pull me through I feel you tug on my arm, but you’re on my toes and I’m in your shoes -so here we are, just wasting time just throwing it away, just barely alive -with their teeth chattering a faint static whisper I can hear them say "you’re lucky you’re alive, I’m so glad you’re ok"
7.
I'm just looking for a place to be, but it's not easy looking for a hole to hide out in when these scars litter every inch of soil and flesh left uncovered by the callous and the strange assumptions we must make to keep moving. We are living in the history we neglect, to our ruin. There will never be a place to be. There's blood on the streets 500 years deep, and sweat in the sheets where bodies do sleep. And we're just fighting over the crumbs, playing victim martyr or savior while the whole world burns. But if we cross the desert will we find a promised land? or are we still extensions of the master's hand? If we flee the city, will we find peace in the silence? Or will our footsteps summon engines of greater violence? Our roles were written long ago. My boots on your back, their hands on mine. Our best intentions are meaningless, while we live and we die on our knees. Violence genocide and slavery, endless war and misery. Violence genocide and slavery, endless war and misery. But you don't have to guard a cage, you don't have to take a life. You don't have to wade through blood and shit to feed your family. You don't have to hold the gun. You don't have to hold the knife. You can sit and sip your tea until the flames reach your front door.
